Your electric utility shapes how solar pays off
Brigham City runs its own electric utility, Brigham City Public Power, which buys its power through Utah Associated Municipal Power Systems. If your home or business is on Brigham City Public Power, your solar terms come from the city rather than from Rocky Mountain Power's Schedule 137.
Brigham City Public Power moved solar customers to net billing on August 18, 2022. The power you use from the grid is sold at the same price as to every other residential customer, and the power your system sends back is credited at a separate rate. Customers who were installed, or had a completed application, by August 18, 2022 were grandfathered.
For Rocky Mountain Power customers in Utah, solar falls under Schedule 137, Net Billing Service. Energy your system sends to the grid earns an export credit rate, with separate summer (June through September) and winter (October through May) rates reviewed and approved by the Utah Public Service Commission. The most recent revision took effect March 1, 2026.
Because the rules differ by utility, we confirm which utility serves your address, and its current solar terms, before we put a number on your savings.
