How solar works on Murray's city power
Murray runs its own electric utility and is a member of Utah Associated Municipal Power Systems. If your home or business is served by Murray's city-owned system, its Net Metering Pilot Program applies instead of Rocky Mountain Power's rules.
Murray's Net Metering Pilot Program covers solar, wind, or hydro systems up to 10 kW. When your system produces more than you use in a billing period, the excess is credited as kilowatt-hours on your next bill. Those credits apply only to energy use, not service charges, and any credits left on the account at the April bill each year are reset to zero.
Because unused credits reset each April, we size Murray systems to match how much electricity you use over the year rather than to overproduce.
